CPK – Creatine Phosphokinase

Description

Creatine phosphokinase (CPK or CK) is a blood test. Creatine Phosphokinase is an enzyme found mainly in the heart, brain, and skeletal muscle. An increased level of CPK indicates an injury or stress to the muscle tissue, the heart, or the brain. CPK is also increased with the use of certain drugs, so must be informed to the lab at the time of sample collection.  Lab results are usually ready the same day.
