Description

Culture and Sensitivity testing is used to help diagnose an infection and identify a targeted treatment to help provide faster relief. A culture can be performed on a variety of samples from the body, such as blood, urine, stool, sputum, pus, body fluids, viz., synovial fluid, pleural fluid, peritoneal fluid, semen etc. Any germs that grow from the culture will be tested against a variety of medicines to find which medicine works best (sensitivity testing). Lab results are usually ready after 48 hours or the third day of sampling.
